Townsville heavy rockers Colloidal SILVER have just dropped a new single, their fourth since their debut 'Take care' came out in 2020.
This new track is faster and punchier with an old skool punk/metal flavour and quite different to the slower, bulldozer heavy grind of last year's release 'Blood n my bone'. With lyrics that tackle corporate corruption and it's links to politics, lyricist and song writer Dylski said he was pissed off and inspired all at the same time when he wrote the song in 2021 after news reports about various situations and events that were reported about the Government at the time.
Beginning with a pounding drum intro that is soon embellished with fat chunks of stop-start distortion heavy guitars, your ears are then infiltrated by an all-in, balls to the wall riff fest that sets the perfect tone for the vocals to begin thier story. Alluding verses and catchy choruses are repeated just enough and then two thirds in, the fast pace of the song drops away into a bluesy mid-section that underlines a furious guitar solo before leading into a powerful stop/start chant 'don't you look, don't you look, in my eyes!' The pace abruptly kick starts back into the songs previous fury for the final chorus and outro.
Weighing in at just over 5 minutes, 'Cold white eyes' contains 10 different riffs and exactly 206 words.
